Steamboat Sees Nearly 2 Feet of Snow in 2 Days While We Gear Up for Opening Day!

November 6, 2018

Nearly two feet of snow fell on Steamboat in the past two days bringing the finest of champagne powder to the 'Boat! While Steamboat is 2 weeks away from Opening Day, the resort is already working hard to have the best early season terrain open for the November 21st Opening Day. Skiers and riders will gear up early to be first chair. This boost from mother nature is getting us excited!

Saturday's storm laid a nice base and then Sunday’s storm brought 16 inches of snow, measured on the snow cam at Steamboat Resort.  Snow seekers were already out Nordic skiing or alpine touring on Rabbit Ears Pass. It was a great powder day with nothing but the best champagne powder.

Champagne powder, trademarked by the resort, lives up to its name. The softest, fluffiest, driest of snow makes Steamboat's snow special, providing nothing but the finest and most luxurious pow! Cross country skiers delighted in turns down the low angle slopes on Rabbit Ears Pass.  Some enjoyed it so much that they went up twice in one day.  The snow was that good and continued to dump gloriously.

While Steamboat anticipates more snow in the next 10 days, the resort will continue to prep for what looks to be a great season ahead. In the meantime, come visit and play in the snow, snowshoe, cross country ski or sled with the kids on Rabbit Ears or Buffalo Pass.
