Steamboat Springs continues to be one of the most popular destinations for that standout family vacation! For those new to the town, it’s not always easy to discover the available activities taking place this time of year.  So for those visiting Steamboat Springs in the coming month, this Steamboat Springs escape guide offers information on five exciting things to do in the area this October.

1 - Halloween Stroll

Considered one of the most popular events within the Steamboat Springs community, the Halloween Stroll brings people from across the region together. Businesses open their doors for trick or treaters of all ages and their families to visit and pick up their treats. All of the vacationers and locals gathering together in their costumes is quite the sight to see. The event takes place across Lincoln Avenue in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 31st.

2 - First Friday Art Walk

Explore the wondrous artwork featured throughout Steamboat Springs with the First Friday Art Walk. The walk is a self-guided tour of the local museums, art galleries, and other alternative venues in the area and is available for free on Friday, October 7th. Featuring art from all over the world this is a very popular event every year. The walk begins in downtown Steamboat Springs and takes place between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

3 - Mandy Harvey

Also taking place on Friday, October 7th is an exciting musical event for all fans of the classical genre. Mandy Harvey is an award-winning singer/songwriter who has performed on stages across the globe in spite of her hearing loss. Her performance, which is due to take place from 7:00 pm at the Strings Music Pavilion, is presented by the Strings Music Festival organization.

4 - Chili and Pie Bake-Off

Taking place on Saturday, October 8th between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Ski Haus on Pine Grove Road, The Chili and Pie Bake-Off is the first of its kind in Steamboat Springs. Ski Haus invites all local visitors to explore the tempting flavors created. Guests can enter the chili contest with their own variety of chili for a chance to win a pair of Rossignol or Armada Skis. Pie makers can put their skills to the test at the event for the opportunity to win a pair of Nordica Boots. With great prizes like that and all of the delicious food it’s hard to say whether it’s better to be a contestant or a judge.

5 - Dawn & Hawkes Live

Taking place at the Chief Theater in downtown Steamboat Springs, the Dawn & Hawks Live event will present contemporary music fans with a great collection of acoustic folk songs to capture their imagination. The musical duo’s performance will begin at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 6th and tickets are priced at $15.

October promises to be an exciting month of events for the entire Steamboat Springs community. From art festivals and concerts to a chili cook off and trick or treating, there is something for everyone to enjoy this month.
