ALASKA AIRLINES LAUNCHES NEW NONSTOP SAN DIEGO WINTER SERVICE FOR 2016/17

Southern Californians can discover the sought after experience of floating through legendary Champagne Powder® snow of Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A.® when Alaska Airlines launches new winter nonstop service from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Steamboat/Hayden Airport (HDN) for the upcoming 2016/2017 ski and snowboard season.

“With Alaska’s success from Seattle over the past few years, we have strategically worked to provide new and expanded access into Steamboat-Ski Town, U.S.A.,” said Rob Perlman, president and chief operating officer for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. “Together, significant strides have been made in expanding access to Steamboat as seen with the growth in the Seattle nonstop program; and now with this exciting new opportunity from San Diego. For the coming winter, we’ll focus on leveraging access from Alaska’s West Coast network via these key markets.”

 

Alaska Airlines’ nonstop service from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to Steamboat/Hayden (HDN) will operate twice a week from Saturday, December 17 through Saturday, March 25.  Alaska will fly the routes with 76-seat E175 jets, operated by SkyWest Airlines, which features 12 seats in first class, 12 seats in premium class and 52 seats in the main cabin. The E175 boasts cabin dimensions on par with a mainline jet. With this aircraft, every passenger has either an aisle or window seat.

In addition to serving San Diego’s active outdoor population, Alaska Airlines’ new twice-weekly flight offers convenient connections from a variety of West Coast cities.  The flight, operated by SkyWest Airlines, is currently scheduled for the 2016/17 ski and snowboard season 12/71 to 3/25.
