Warren Miller was a pioneer of the ski film industry and many people felt his passing last year when he died at the age of 93. He was the founder of Warren Miller Entertainment and has left a lasting legacy in the ski and snowboard industry.
If you are like many people who get excited about the upcoming winter season by catching the newly released ski films, then you know about the anticipated Warren Miller films that are viewed every year by people around the world. In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the Chief Theater is hosting the annual showing of the latest Warren Miller movie, Face of Winter.
There are 4 showings of Face of Winter. Kicking off this Thursday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m.; and two showings on Saturday, November 17th at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. Face of Winter, is the 69th installment from Warren Miller Entertainment and will bring new and veteran athletes together to pay tribute to the man who started it all.
History of the Chief Theater
Located in downtown Steamboat Springs, the historic Chief Theater was once a single venue theater offering live performances and events from the late 1920's through the late 1950's. In the 1980’s the Chief Theater was remodeled to a space that was divided into a 4-plex movie theater with 2 retail spaces. Three decades later, the Chief Theater was up for sale. The community came together to form a nonprofit organization called Friends of the Chief to help fund and maintain the legacy of the Chief Theater. Thankfully, the Friends of the Chief helped guide the rehabilitation project so it would become a regional cultural center that is able to host larger touring acts, musical and theatrical performances.
