Do you have a favorite chili recipe? If so, do you dare share? Steamboat is gearing up for the 14th Annual Downtown Chili Challenge in Steamboat Springs on Saturday, September 8th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will also be a salsa and a cornbread category added to the competition this year. Chili will be judged in a blind tasting by our panel of experts. Categories include red chili, green chili, cornbread, salsa, People’s Choice for both red and green chili, and Best Presentation.
With fall in the air, the Downtown Chili Challenge is one of my favorite September events to attend. I have yet to enter my Green Chicken Chili Recipe (do I dare share?). As an attendee you get to sample all flavors of chili; mild, medium and spicy hot. Thankfully there will be cornbread and cold beer to round out the senses. There will even be live music by Adia Clark-Lay, Trevor G Potter with Walt & the ol 37, and Buffalo Commons along with beer and other beverages available.
Sample kits are $10 are will be available at the Farmers Market on the day of the competition.
I can’t wait to spend Saturday strolling around the Farmers Market and then topping off the day with delicious chili, cold Colorado craft brews, mountain air, and great live music.
