Half a Foot of Fresh Snow (and more on the way!!!)

March 17, 2018

Have you heard the saying "In like a lamb out like a lion?"  The phrase may hold true for March skiing in Steamboat.  Yesterday, we saw half a foot of snow fall on the Steamboat Ski Area.  Snow is in the forecast for the next week (with a few sunny days mixed in between to give you the best of both worlds).

The fresh snow  provided for some amazing light, fluffy powder over the fresh groomers.  In my mind, a few inches of fresh powder over a freshly groomed trail beats any powder day in the boat.  The soft, buttery carving feels light on your heals and delightful to your ski heart.  I carved my way all over the mountain and was surprised at how short the lift lines were for how great the conditions became.  Although it's Spring Break, Steamboat still does an amazing job dispersing the crowds with fast lifts and amazing access on upper, lower and back sides of the mountain.  My friend was visiting from the Denver area and was in awe at how light the snow felt and how much fun could be have with a few inches at time.  We skied fun, fast buttery groomers, and even caught fresh powder in untouched trees.

If you are coming to Steamboat this weekend or next week, you are in for a treat.  The next 10 days have snow in the forecast 7 out of the 10 days.  It may be March with snow in like a lamb, but it sure is going out like a lion.  This will provide for some good coverage as we make our final four weeks of the 2017/18 season.  And, if you are questioning booking a trip to Steamboat, do it!  You won't be disappointed with the spring skiing and line up of fun activities for the next few weeks.
