The snowflakes are big!

January 11, 2018

From light snow dropping one minute to big snowflakes piling up against the ground the next minute.  It was like a light switch went off when I looked out the window. It was barely snowing and then all of a sudden there was no visibility the snow was falling so fast. My heart exploded with joy. These are the winter days I long for - lots of beautiful crystal snowflakes falling from the sky.  The snow was coming down so fast I could barely

keep up with wiping it off my car when I was out on my errand run.  All I could think about was rushing up to the mountain to take a few ski runs.  Sure enough, arriving to the mountain at 1:00 p.m. proved to be the perfect time.  Hardly anyone was on the slopes and there was instantly a few inches of fluff.  I had the runs to myself.  It was pure bliss.

On mid-week poweder days (like today) the bliss comes from the lack of crowds. Steamboat is lucky that we are not on a major interstate, we rarely have lift lines and even the beginner can find untracked terrane. With more snow in the forecast tonight through Thursday, Steamboat Springs could see up to a foot or more of snow. I'm going to continue to do my snowdance and encourage you to get up to Steamboat stat. We have the best snow in the state. Check out www.steamboat.net for more information on lodging, skiing and everything to do in Steamboat.
