"It's the Most Happening Time of the Year"

The month of December brings a variety of exciting happenings to Steamboat with fun for the whole family. One place to refer to for all the activities in town is the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association Events CalendarBelow are some highlighted events taking place over the next few weeks:


-December 7th
Famous musician Del McCoury Band is playing at Stings Music Festival.  Get your tickets here.  

-December 8th and 9th:  Join Elevation Dance Studio for its winter production of The Nutcracker. This fun, family friendly performance will be sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Click here for tickets and more information.  

-December 9th:  Visit with Santa every Saturday until December 23rd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Banke of the West Santa House located downtown at 555 Lincoln Ave.

-Dember 12th and 14th: Take a run during Yampatika Ski With a Naturalist event. This is a free program that takes place on Steamboat Ski Area, however it does not include a lift ticket. Meet at the Why Not trail head at the top of the Gondola at Steamboat Ski Resort on Tuesday and Thursday, December 12 - March 15.

-December 15th:  FREE snowshoe tour at Fish Creek Falls from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This tour is offered weekly from December 15 - March 16. Join Yampatika for a moderately strenuous snowshoe tour along the breathtaking Fish Creek Canyon. This tour is for ages 12 and up. The snowshoe tour is free program, however registration is required. Please call (970) 871-9151 to register.

Snowshoing is a great family activity.

-December 15th – 16th:  A Celtic Christmas from 7p.m to 9 p.m.  Celebrate the season at The Chief Theater with two evenings of heart warming Celtic music performed by Jessie Burns and Take Down the Door.  Purchase tickets here.

-December 16th:  Christmas Storytime at Tread of Pioneers Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Kids will hear about pioneers, Victorian holiday stories and traditions and will create a special Victorian holiday craft to take home. While you are here, see the museum's holiday decorations and get some holiday shopping done in the Museum Store. This is a free event and great for children ages 4 and up.

-Dedcember 17th Holiday Festival and Fireworks at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area from 2p.m  to 5:30p.m.  Come to gondola square and celebrate the holiday season Steamboat style. See Santa ride down the slopes on horseback and meet Santa at his workshop along with some of his favorite reindeer friends. Participate in the stocking scramble and collect free holiday treats at surrounding stores and restaurants. Additional festivities include cookie decorating, story time and a special holiday concert by the Face Vocal Band as — seen on NBC’s the Sing Off and America’s Got Talent.  The party continues after dark with a torch light parade and fireworks followed by night skiing.
