Southwest Airlines to Service Steamboat

February 27, 2020

Southwest Airlines just announced this week they will begin serving the Steamboat region with seasonal daily flights starting by the end of 2020.  This is great news for Steamboat Springs as the regional service will fly into the Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, Colorado.  Hayden is just a 25 minute drive from Steamboat Springs making it easier than ever to plan a trip to the mountains.

Originally, the flights will be connections from the Denver International Airport, which is about a 45 minute flight to Hayden.  Southwest is known as the nation’s largest domestic air carrier since 2003.  This gives folks more flight options and carriers to fly into Steamboat.  Southwest joins Delta Air lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue as the major carriers that serve Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden.

“Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder or just enjoy a winter wonderland, Steamboat Springs has something for everyone and now you’ll be able to reach the region on Southwest with a short, easy flight from Denver,” said Adam Decaire, Southwest’s Vice President of network planning.

Southwest plans to release more information about the flight details in the coming months.  We will be sure to share the news as flights are announced.  In the meantime, start thinking about your next winter wonderland trip to Steamboat!
