Springalicious in Steamboat

April 7, 2018

Head to Steamboat for a celebration that will send out the 2017-18 season with a bang! The annual Springalicious Festival promises beautiful days with free concerts, the Cardboard Classic, the Splashdown Pond Skim contest, and more.

The Cardboard Classic happens Saturday, April 14th at the base of the Steamboat ski area where homemade cardboard crafts race down the Stampede run to a hysterical finish. The crafts are constructed only of cardboard, glue, duct tape, and other household items.

After the Cardboard Classic is the Pond Skim competition that takes place on Sunday, April 15th.  Everyone will enjoy watching people in their favorite costume attempting to make it all the way across the icy pond.  Both events are free to attend and will make you laugh.

Free concerts take place on April 7th, 14th and 15th at the base of the ski area from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

On April 7th, The Commonheart headlines the show.  With gritty vocals over rock riffs and horns, The Commonheart delivers an emotion-packed, soulful sound that lights up any stage.  Frontman Clinton Clegg is a powerhouse who commands full attention with his limitless onstage energy and vocal range.  The new album “Grown” is a remarkable display of each member’s talent interlacing heavy blues, soul and gospel influence across trumpet, saxophone, keys, guitar and singers.

The Last Bandoleros will place a free concert on Saturday April 14th.

Closing out the season are the legendary funk rockers Robert Randolph and The Family Band.

Don't wait to book your fun weekend or week-day get away - now is the time.  Check out www.steamboat.net for more info on springtime in Steamboat.
