Steamboat Brother Team Hopeful for Olympic Medals!

February 11, 2018

Bryan and Taylor Fletcher had a dream.  It has been a lifelong journey and dream for the brothers to compete in the Olympics together.  Born and raised in Steamboat, the brothers starting ski jumping when they were 4 years old and eventually became top competitors in the sport of Nordic Combined.

Growing up in Steamboat Springs, the boys had access to an amazing training ground at Howelsen Hill where they could ski jump (eventually year-round when the jumps were finished with a landing that would be capable to use during the summer months).  Howelsen Hill also has incredible nordic trails and a training program through the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.

The Fletcher brothers dream came to reality when they both qualified for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.  Their quest was not quite over and the taste of an Olympic medal for both brothers await next week when they compete in the 2018 Olympic Nordic Combined.  The brothers would love nothing more than to stand side-by-side with an olympic medal.  We hope they can hear the chears all the way from Steamboat where we could not be more proud of Bryan and Taylor Fletcher.  They are the hometown heros that make living and visiting Steamboat special during the Olympics.

Steamboat is sending 15 hometown athletes to the 2018 Olympics.  The ski area is honoring the athletes with a cauldron lit up every day throughout the Olympics.  Visit the cauldron at the entrance of Ski Town square where you can stand on the podium and snap a photo for lifelong memories of your winter vacation to Steamboat.
